About 1 in 10 children have abnormal curves in the spine, a condition known as scoliosis. At Impulse Health and Wellness, we offer specialized care for patients with scoliosis.

What to Expect

Our scoliosis specialist, Dr. Brad Gage of Scoliosis.Solutions, comes to our practice at least once a month to provide assessments and recommendations for patients with scoliosis. Although each patient is unique, a typical visit will include a consultation, followed by an examination. He’ll check posture and take photographs and measurements of the spine, shoulders and hips, as well as a digital 3D scan of the torso and full spinal X-rays.

These assessments give him a visual baseline of where the patient is prior to beginning treatment. Using these scans and X-rays, he’ll measure the direct angles of the curvature of the spine and make recommendations regarding chiropractic care, exercises and/or bracing.

Over the course of treatment, follow-up X-rays will be taken to assess improvement.

Is surgery required for scoliosis?

If curves are not corrected, they may progress to the point that internal organs are affected and surgery is the only option. Our goal is to catch issues early and correct small curves before they become large curves, so we can help you avoid the need for major surgery.

What type of brace do you use?

Dr. Brad may recommend one of several different types of braces, depending on your specific situation. He is a fully accredited provider of the ScoliBrace®, which is a modern 3D rigid brace that does not immobilize the spine.

How much does treatment cost?

Each patient is unique, and your care plan will be customized to your specific needs. We’ll explain recommendations for care as well as costs involved before you begin, so you’ll have all the information you need to make an informed decision.
